Japspeed Stable 2010

Paul Smith S15 1JZ
Shane Lynch S15 VH45DETT
Steve Baggioni Subaru WRX 1JZ
Japspeed finished the 2009 season on a high with a total of 14 podiums throughout the season including Danny having 6 collective podiums including 4 1st places.
The aim was to keep our eyes set out for more silverware and was time to spruce up the stable with some trick conversions and 2 brand new projects which had never been done before in Europe.

We decided to keep Danny’s car as it was at the end of the season with only a few changes. The plan with the S15 was to get it out of the starting blocks from the word go and we kept the RB25 but used the up rated version using the R34 neo block and some internal modifications and bolting on a 30/76R would see this machine increase power and torque and be able to compete with the best.

Paul Smith had many teething problems at the start of the 2009 season in the 1JZ Silvia and as the season was coming to a close the car started to work perfectly and applying the 500BHP through the Z1’s was a well balanced machine. Paul decided just to keep the car exactly how he finished the season and is ready for a fresh challenge this year and is very confident in the car so watch this space.

Anthony “Google” Cahill spent most of the winter months designing his graphics and what colour wheels he would run and after some very stressful weeks he was finally happy with his designs and the car was stickered up just before round 1 of the BDC 2010. He also spent some time getting the cars alignment sorted too.

Shane Lynch has been crying out for a V8 engine since the early days of the team and with the improvement of the guys driving style the 2010 season was time to take on our biggest engine conversion to date. We had many choices of engines and we short listed the engine down to finally deciding on the Nissan VH45DE which is a 4.5 overhead valve high revving engine, keeping it true to Nissan brand the fun had only just started, as not only was this a mega conversion we also decided to add a pair of turbos. We show later in more detail about the build – keep checking back.

Nathan Chivers finished 2nd in the semi – pro class in the 2009 season in the RB26DETT 475BHPR33 and we decided for this year he needed a much lighter car to be able to compete, we decide to transplant the R33 running gear in to an S14a.

Steve “ Baggsy” Baggioni taking the 2009 crown in the BDC in his Nissan S13 it was time to build a new car which could be a lot more competitive for the seasons ahead. We again decided to build a car that’s never been done in Europe before and built a Subaru WRX powered with a EJ Cosworth lump. More details to follow later about this build.
